Hi friends,
It’s been a minute. I have some exciting updates to share and a poll I’d love your input on. Cast your vote at the end of this post!
Let’s start with the schedule update. My partner is visiting from the US, and he surprised me with a trip to Japan for Chuseok.
Since I’ll be traveling for the next little bit, here’s a content schedule update for October and November.
Craft Lesson Schedule
October 22nd: October’s Craft Lesson
October 29th: October’s AMA
November 12th: November’s Craft Lesson
November 19th: November’s AMA
I always post schedule updates on X (RIP Twitter) and Substack Notes. Be sure to follow me there for more updates. If you have any questions for our monthly AMA, drop them in the comments below.
Writing Updates
I started writing again. My agent recently received a revise and resubmit request for my first book, Lit by Burning, and we’ve decided to work on that. Since Lit is so different in tone, genre, and subject matter from You Will Survive This, I don’t feel completely burnt out by the thought of working on it again.
Yesterday, I spent the afternoon crafting a revision plan and finding a way back into the world of Lit. Depending on how this revision goes, I hope to start posting weekly newsletters on the writing life again in late November, so stay tuned for that.
Content Poll
Lastly, I’d love to know what you think about the video lessons versus our typical craft text posts.
For reference, here are our video lessons so far:
Vote for your favorite medium by next Monday, October 9th.
If you have any other feedback, please share your thoughts in the comments:
I’ll see you in our next post!

Wow, what a surprise--I can't wait to hear the developing story of your revise and resubmit! Didn't you think that Lit by Burning wasn't going to sell? This is so exciting.
And a secondary comment--I almost always read text instead of watch videos when given the choice. It's quicker! And yet videos allow your teaching skill to shine. I can always write my own notes. I can't always read into a text the subtle emphasis or the brief digressions that help to clarify a point you're making. So. Yay for speed! But a bigger yay for better comprehension.
Congrats on the revise and resubmit request! That’s wonderful news.
